Digital Chocolate Sims, FrontierVille Lead Fastest-Growing Facebook Games

Gamasutra's bi-weekly look at the fastest-growing Facebook titles examines the expanding audiences of Digital Chocolate's Sims-like Vegas City and Zynga staple FrontierVille.

[Every other week, Gamasutra examines the fastest growing Facebook games (according to monthly active users), looking at which titles and developers are having the most success attracting new players on the social network.] Two recently launched Digital Chocolate titles, Vegas City and Hollywood City, have again topped the chart this week, with the former at #1 and picking up 890,423 new monthly users, a 40 percent gain in the past seven days that brings its total up to 3.1 million players since its debut in early November. Hollywood City at #4 gained 519,136 new users in the last week for a total of 3.3 million. Another Digital Chocolate title that launched around the same time, Crime City, dropped to #12 but is still seeing significant growth: 297,948 new players and a total of almost 6.4 million. Digital Chocolate's Island God takes #5 this week after scrounging up 497,536 worshippers for its total congregation of 1.7 million, followed by dueling title Epic Fighters at #6, which recruited 483,463 new monthly players and now has 914,234 total gamers. Back to the upper half of the list, the Frontier Bonuses app (#2, 774,135 total) promised 730,469 users FrontierVille bonuses. The actual FrontierVille game by Zynga, meanwhile, is growing again at #3 with 564,115 new pioneers and a total of nearly 29.6 million monthly players. Taking up the remaining spots in the top ten, we have Game of Truth (#7, +479,877 users, 1.5 million total), DNA Games' Bar World (#8, +422,429 users, 854,671 total), Playdom's City of Wonder (#9, +379,993 users, 6.6 million total), and Wooga's Monster World (#10, +349,292 users, 5.4 million total).
