The Billboard-sponsored Digital Entertainment and Media Awards, which gives out prizes in the digital realm for film, video, music and video games, have announced a date for this year's presentation, which will be held on December 1, 2005 at the Westin Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, California. The 2004 event saw notable game-related award-winners including NCSoft's City Of Heroes for both best PC/Console and best Multiplayer Game, BioWare Corp for Game Developer of the Year, and Dr. Richard Marks and Sony Computer Entertainment America being honored for Best Game Innovation of the Year for the EyeToy USB camera and software. The 2005 awards submission deadline is quickly approaching, with final materials due on Saturday, October 15, 2005. 7 copies of the completed entry form must be submitted along with entry fees to the committee. The boundaries of eligibility for the 2005 prize are flexible, as submissions can nominate any individual, company, or game that has either been released or shown progress in 2005. The categories for the 2005 game-related awards are Game Innovation of the Year, Console Game of the Year, Mobile Phone Game of the Year, Casual Game of the Year, Multiplayer Game of the Year, Advergame of the Year, and Best Use of Sound in a Game, and jurors for the 2005 awards include Microsoft's J Allard, GameSpot's Vince Broady, Playfirst's John Welch, and former Mforma exec Robert Tercek, as well as representatives from Disney Online, AOL, Fox Mobile, Universal Music, Sony Pictures Digital and Yahoo!.
