Next month, Disney will reportedly begin bundling some of its animated movie and TV show DVDs with the video games based on those properties in the UK. The bundles will see the movie Tangled paired with the Wii game of the same name, TV series Phineas and Ferb paired with its DS counterpart, and Wii title Cars Toon: Maters' Tall Tales bundled with the Cars movie and a bonus DVD of Cars-based shorts. All three bundles will launch on June 27, Disney catalog manager James Thornby told MCV. "We are continuously looking at ways to take Disney film lovers beyond the movie experience," Thornby said. "New product configurations can... make it easier for kids and families to immerse themselves in the world of Cars or Tangled as the content has been brought together as a cost-effective gift package." The bundles are part of a five-week Summer Magic promotion Disney will be running for a variety of its retail and theme park products starting in late June. Specific information on pricing or American availability for the game-and-DVD bundles was not immediately available. Former Disney Interactive boss Graham Hopper told Gamasutra in 2009 that the company was anticipating more convergence between movie and game IP in the future.
