Industry trade magazine Develop has released its Chart-Track supported findings of the top 100 developers, with EA Canada leading the pack, and UK devs assuming an overall second place, outpacing Japan. The list, based exclusively on data from UK retail sales data as compiled by Chart-Track, finds EA Canada on top for the third year in a row due to strong performance of its FIFA and Need For Speed adding to £118.97 million ($234.6mil) in sales over the past year. Nintendo found itself the second ranked developer in this year's list on the past year's Wii and DS successes, which, according to Develop, more than doubled its sales to £70.9 million ($139.8mil). Overall, while US developers still collectively ranked highest on the list with £313 million ($617.2mil) in sales, the UK was a strong second at £231.5 million ($456.6mil), strikingly higher than Japan with £172.9 ($341mil) million, which fell underneath Canada as well with £185.5 million ($365.8mil) in sales. Said Develop editor Michael French of the list, "Whilst the big players retain a massive presence, it’s good news to see that new hardware formats and new IP and ideas continue to drive the business commercially and creatively."
