Officials from major developer and publisher Electronic Arts have revealed that the previously announced PC strategy game Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars is also in development for the Xbox 360. Both versions are set to ship simultaneously in 2007. In development at the company's Los Angeles studio, the game marks EA's second major PC strategy title to be brought to Microsoft's console next-generation console platform. Earlier this year EA released The Battle for Middle-earth II for the Xbox 360 to critical acclaim, and the same team responsible for that title is now charged with bringing this futuristic strategy game to the console market as well. In addition, EA also plans to offer what it refers to as a “steady stream” of content over Xbox Live for download over the service's Marketplace, the first of which will be a dashboard theme featuring concept art from the development team. Like previous entires in the Command & Conquer series, Tiberium Wars is unique in that it will utilize a cast of live actors in order to convey the game's narrative of of planetary war in the year 2047. Earlier confirmed actors for the game include Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica), Josh Holloway (Lost), Michael Ironside (Splinter Cell: Double Agent), Billy Dee Williams (The Empire Strikes Back), Grace Park (Battlestar Galactica), Ivana Bozilovic (Wedding Crashers), and Shauntay Hinton (Criminal Minds), as well as real-life news reporters John Huck and Shanon Cook. The upcoming game will also mark the return of the actor who originated the main role of the maniacal leader of the Brotherhood of Nod in the Command & Conquer series, Joe Kucan, who will reprise his role as Kane in this latest sequel. “The Command & Conquer series finally makes its return to the console after seven years,” noted EALA producer Mike Verdu. “C&C 3 will help expand the RTS genre on the Xbox 360, building off of the foundation laid by the development of The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle-earth II. EA is evolving the console controls so that strategy gaming plays and feels native to the platform.”
