After complaints regarding a serious bug in the handheld version of its popular franchise, publisher Electronic Arts has announced a new promotion to replace faulty copies of PSP title Madden NFL 06. First released in October the game drew a mixed response from critics, many of whom drew attention to various bugs – the most important of which was a problem with the franchise mode, via which the game would shut down the PSP without warning, losing any unsaved data at the time. Although Electronic Arts claimed the problem was “not widespread”, it quickly advised customers of a short term fix that involved always entering the franchise mode from the team schedule option menu. However, the company’s longer term solution is to offer a replacement PSP UMD with a revised version of the game, as well as two money off coupons. Further information on the offer can be found at the Electronic Arts website.
