Organizers of the The European Conference on Games Based Learning (ECGBL 2007) event have announced that the event will take place at the University of Paisley in Scotland from October 25-26 in 2007. The Conference offers an opportunity for scholars and practitioners interested in the issues related to games based learning to share their thinking and research findings. The conference examines the question “Can Games-Based Learning Enhance Learning?” and seeks high-quality papers that address this question. Organizers are currently accepting abstracts and papers for potential topics to be covered at the event. Papers can cover various issues and aspects of games based learning in education and training, including technology and implementation issues associated with the development of GBL; use of mobile and MMOGs for learning; pedagogical issues associated with GBL; social and ethical issues in GBL; GBL best cases and practices, and other related aspects. Organizers note that they are particularly interested in empirical research that addresses whether games based learning enhances learning. Abstracts must be turned in by May 17, 2007, while the deadline for papers is July 5, 2007. Submissions can be made via the official ECGBL 2007 website, and more information on the summit is also available there.
