Michael Rawlinson, director general of UK trade body the Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association, has been appointed to the vice chairmanship of the Alliance Against IP Theft, a coalition of professional associations and enforcement organizations dedicated to protecting intellectual property rights in the UK. "With the UK games software industry alone estimated to lose £350M annually as a result of IP theft, ELSPA’s involvement has never been more important, and follows on from the work we already undertake through our IP Crime Unit and of course our continuing engagement with the Digital Economy Act," Rawlinson said in a statement. The ELSPA boss isn't new to the AAIPT; he's served as the group's treasurer for the last two years. His new promotion ensures continued strong representation of the video game industry within the organization, which represents multiple creative industries in the UK. "I am delighted to welcome Michael onboard as vice chairman at this exciting time," said AAIPT director general Susie Winter. "I know that his commitment and experience will help us ensure that the intellectual property rights of all our members receive the protection they deserve."
