Nintendo of Europe has announced eight launch window games scheduled to accompany and follow the release of Nintendo’s WiiWare channel on May 20th. The planned selection of games resembles the lineup of titles currently available in the North American version of WiiWare, which was introduced on May 12th, with several exceptions. The games will be available via the existing WiiWare section of the Wii Shop Channel, previously used only for core non-game related applications such as the Internet Channel and the recently launched Nintendo Channel. New WiiWare games will be added on Mondays, with users able to add reviews and read information on titles on the Nintendo Channel. The eight games scheduled to debut with and following the WiiWare channel’s release in Europe are as follows: Dr. Mario & Germ Buster (Nintendo) Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (Square Enix) Lost Winds (Frontier) Pirates: The Key of Dreams (Oxygen Interactive) Pop (Nnooo) Star Soldier R (Hudson Soft) Toki Tori (Two Tribes) TV Show King (Gameloft) Of those titles, Dr. Mario & Germ Buster, Pirates: The Key of Dreams, Star Soldier R, and Toki Tori are currently not available on the North American WiiWare channel. Nintendo of Europe’s managing director of marketing and PR Laurent Fischer said: “We are excited by the positive response we have received from third party developers to the announcement of WiiWare. We hope that this opportunity and the inspiration to produce original and exciting games will allow developers of all sizes to bring new concepts, genres and game play experiences to Wii. Opening this creative door will also provide Wii users access to a huge choice of games that they can easily download and enjoy.”
