In Gamasutra's latest feature, Paul Hyman talks to Zynga, Evony, and Ngmoco to find out their platform strategies for social gaming -- and why they choose to make the moves they do. "Our strategy is to go where the players are," says Zynga product development VP. "And since we know that there are a large number of our Facebook FarmVille players who have mobile devices like the iPhone and iPad, why not let them have the opportunity to experience our games from that platform as well?" On the other hand, mobile-focused publisher Ngmoco doesn't intend to move away from Apple's iOS devices for the time being. As the company's marketing VP, Clive Downie, explains: "Yes, there are hundreds of millions -- perhaps even a billion -- users on the desktop-based internet," he says. "But it is predicted that by the end of 2013 there will be three billion people with 3G-enabled handsets globally and that's the business in which we want to have a leadership position -- and that's absolutely our driving vision every single day," Downie adds. To find out more about these market leaders' strategies and the thinking behind them, read Gamasutra's latest feature, Where'd Your Social Games Go?.
