Gamasutra is adapting the "Question Of The Week" feature, answered by professional game developers reading the site, to present a series of 'Quantum Leap' awards for the most innovative titles ever created in gaming's core genres. All Gamasutra readers are invited to participate in this poll, which will proceed genre by genre through the major game types, looking for the perfect blend of innovatiion and execution in one game title for that genre. The concept is to vote for the game that you think 'brought the genre forward' in the biggest way - whether it be an early game which helped define the FPS, or a more recent one which took those core ideas, and changed the FPS into a much more complex and rewarding beast. Thus, the question, which can be answered at the official Question Of The Week page until August 25, is: "Which first-person shooter/action title over the entire history of the FPS game do you think has made the biggest 'quantum leap' in the genre, and why?" As with the previous questions, the best responses will be compiled into an article to be published on the site, and users can either respond publically, with their name and company specifically cited, or anonymize their answers if they wish.
