Gamasutra is proud to announce a whole new series of daily news features, starting today (Tuesday, July 5th), and providing even more in-depth coverage of the video game industry past, present, and future to our audience of game professionals. Every day, our writers, including Jim Rossignol (PC Gamer UK, Edge and The London Times), Frank Cifaldi (Nintendo Official Magazine UK, Wired, and Lost Levels), and Game Developer and Gamasutra editor Simon Carless will compile, interview and analyze a specific subject in a mini-feature form, to add flavor to the daily industry news and our regular full-length features. The full line-up for these news features is as follows: Each Monday, the feature "Playing Catch-Up" will act as a virtual 'Where Are They Now?' for major figures in the video game business, from classic game creators to major business figures, outlining their infamous past and speaking to them to find out what they're up to now. On Tuesday, "The Esoteric Beat" finds our correspondents delving deeper into some of the abstruse fields surrounding gaming, from technological and scientific advances that impact gaming, all the way to game projects on the fringes of the commercial world, but that nonetheless impact the video game professional. Wednesday brings the "Critical Reception" column, looking in more depth at how the media has reviewed the most important game or games released this week, and looking at the consensus (or lack there-of!) for the critical reception of the latest and greatest new video games. Thursday sees the "Media Consumption" feature, talking to some of the leading game industry creators and businesspeople about the latest media they've been consuming, from films, through books to music and even video games. If you wanted to know what the industry leaders' or innovators' current reading material is, then this would be the feature to find out. Finally, on Friday we have "Blogged Out", in which we cast a discerning eye over the weblogs of professional game developers, linking to some of the best commentary of the week and analyzing some of the biggest issues that the game development community is talking about on its journals and personal sites.
