Representatives from newly founded "independent, artist-driven" publisher Gamecock have announced that Serious Sam developer Croteam has been added to the company's stable for its yet unannounced next-gen game. No details have been announced on the forthcoming game from the Croatian developer, other than the fact that it is currently in development and will make use of Croteam's proprietary engine known as Serious Engine 3. Gamecock has said that the game will ship in North America in 2009 for both Windows and "specific next-gen consoles." First announced in February of this year, Gamecock is the brainchild of two former Gathering of Developers executives (which previously worked with Croteam on the publishing of its first two Serious Sam games), which promises developers a high degree of participation in the publishing process, as well financial incentives for strongly performing titles. Currently the publisher has a number of other titles planned for next gen consoles, handheld formats and the PC, including deals with Bungie and Wideload founder Alex Seropian for a new title, with unspecified global distribution alliances already in place. Said Croteam CEO Roman Ribaric, "The Gamecock team includes some of the best people we've worked with in our 14 years of game development. We had a great time and learned a lot when we worked together to produce the first Serious Sam and we are confident that we will achieve similar success this time around."
