Following the news of prices drops in the US and Europe Nintendo officials have announced that the company will also be dropping the price of the console in Japan. The console has fared much better in its native country than elsewhere, so it is not surprising that the price has fallen only to 14,000 yen ($127). The company also reduced the price of the GameCube Enjoy Plus Pack, which contains the console, a Memory Card 251 and a Game Boy Player, to 19,800 yen ($178).
