As expected, following last week’s preliminary data, GameCube sales have risen dramatically in the UK, after the console's price was slashed by £50 ($84). Despite announcements from Nintendo UK representatives that sales had risen by 400% the actual figure is closer to 1000% - perhaps proof positive that console manufacturers’ own figures should never be believed. The ten-fold increase means that the GameCube is now outselling the Xbox by a ratio of almost two to one, although it is still being outsold by the PS2 by a factor of four to one. All of which illustrates just how badly the console was selling before the price cut.
