GameFly Rental Chart Highlights: Week Ending August 1

This week's GameFly video game rental charts for North America, specifically relating to games rented via the games-by-mail service for the week ending August 1st, show popularity over multiple game formats. The military response against aliens is proving successful for the moment, as Delta Force: Black Hawk Down from Vivendi has surpassed Destroy All Humans! as the #1 game on the all-formats chart for the week. Destroy All Humans is hanging on at #2, possibly to return to the top spot another day, while God of War broods morosely at #3. As a first-person shooter, Delta Force: Black Hawk Down is particularly popular with the Xbox userbase, and has settled in at #1 there too. Destroy All Humans! is again #2 on the Xbox list, though the Xbox-exclusive Conker: Live and Reloaded makes third place. Delta Force did slightly less well on the PS2: there, God of War remains on top for another week, Destroy All Humans! clocks in at second place, with Delta Force having to settle for third in the slightly more varied PS2 marketplace. Though nothing says "varied" like this week's GameCube chart: on the one hand, debuting at #1 is the cute, sedate farming sim Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life. On the other hand, you have violent spatterfests Killer 7 and Resident Evil 4 in spots 2 and 3, indicating some serious stratification in the GameCube's install base. The top renters for the Game Boy Advance are slightly more stable: this week, Pokémon Emerald is back on top, Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones is #2, and Mario Party Advance comes up from behind to knock Zelda: The Minish Cap out of the third-place position. The best-renting PSP games of the week are similar to last week's: Coded Arms is still number 1, and Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition is still #2, but last week's third-place Ridge Racer has completely disappeared from the top ten, replaced at #3 by Dead to Rights: Reckoning. On the Nintendo DS, Nanostray has made it all the way up to #1, possibly spurred on by a production shortfall at Majesco, while Kirby: Canvas Curse and Meteos remain at #2 and #3, respectively.
