This week's GameFly video game rental charts for North America, specifically relating to games rented via the games-by-mail service for the week ending June 6th, show popularity over multiple game formats. It looks like forever will the Dark Side dominate the GameFly charts' destiny, as Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith continues to put up a strong showing on every platform where it saw a release. In the general chart, Episode III is still #1, God of War still standing at #2, and Advent Rising ascending to #3. The Xbox-specific chart once again kicks off with Star Wars Episode III, and more metahuman action in Advent Rising takes second prize. The Xbox port of Doom 3 sticks to its #3 place, indicating that there may be quite an audience for FPS games on the Xbox. The PS2-specific God of War tops that platform's charts once again, with Star Wars at #2 and Area 51 maintaining its hidden stronghold at #3. For another week running, the top two games on the GameCube are Resident Evil 4 at #1 and Star Fox Assault at #2 -- given the legs for the GameCube version of RE4, one begins to wonder about the chances of the upcoming PS2 version. This week, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door reclaims third place from Donkey Konga 2, potentially setting up for another placid few weeks in the top GC troika. Meanwhile, more interesting action is going on in the Game Boy Advance charts: for the second week in a row, Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones dominates, while Pokémon Emerald slips even further to #3 behind second-place finisher Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap. Is the monster-catching game losing popularity, or is it a matter of GameFly renters having too much fun with Emerald to give their copies back? On the Nintendo DS, Star Wars Episode III is still Master to the other titles' padawans, with Yoshi Touch & Go resurging to #2 and Pac-Pix down at #3. Elsewhere in the handheld world, MVP Baseball is again the champion on PSP, with Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee birdie-ing at second place. The scarce-in-stores Ridge Racer demonstrates its continued demand by placing third in rentals.
