GameFly Rental Chart Highlights: Week Ending March 27

This week's GameFly video game rental charts for North America, specifically relating to games rented via the games-by-mail service for the week ending March 27th, show popularity over multiple game formats. Following the much-anticipated release of Bethesda's Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, it isn't surprising that the epic RPG debuts this week atop not only the Xbox 360 rental chart, but on the all-format chart as well. Meanwhile, Electronic Arts' licensing gamble with The Godfather: The Game seems to be paying off as the #2 title overall, while Ubisoft's Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII guns down the competition and lands at #3 overall. However, while Oblivion had most Xbox 360 owners occupied and not sleeping, some were taking to the skies with the aforementioned Blazing Angels, which flies in at #2 this week. THQ's The Outfit goes to the front line with guns blazing for #3. PS2 and Xbox players were not able to refuse The Godfather: The Game, as Electronic Arts' gritty action title debuts at the top of both lists. EA continues its dominance by taking the second spot on both lists with their recently released visceral first-person shooter, Black. On the PlayStation 2, Snake sneaks past the competition and hides in the third spot with Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, while Xbox boxing fans continue to dance like butterflies with Fight Night Round 3. Over on the GameCube, anime fans just can't seem to get enough of Naruto, as D3P's Naruto: Clash of Ninja holds onto the top spot. Next-Level Games' Super Mario Strikers continues to put the fun back into soccer at #2, while Ice Age 2: The Meltdown banks on the popularity of the animated movie and takes third. On Nintendo's Game Boy Advance, Naruto shows up again with Naruto: Ninja Council, which edges out Yu-Gi-Oh! Ultimate Masters 2006 and pushes Konami's popular card battle game into the second spot, with the third going to Namco and Nintendo's Tales of Phantasia. It's all about Nintendo this week on their touchable platform, as Samus Aran's long anticipated Metroid Prime: Hunters fights off rival bounty hunters from atop the Nintendo DS charts. #2 this week goes to the addictive block-dropping of Tetris DS, while Peach continues to prove that girls can fight just as well as boys with Super Princess Peach at #3. On Sony's PSP, Daxter takes top accolades, followed by Sony's own Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror at #2. At #3, Rockstar and Take-Two continue to fight the mean streets of Liberty City with Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories.
