GameFly Rental Chart Highlights: Week Ending September 6

This week's GameFly video game rental charts for North America, specifically relating to games rented via the games-by-mail service for the week ending September 6th, shows popularity over multiple game formats. For the first time in quite a while, a GameCube title has managed to take the top spot in the all-format charts. Mario Superstar Baseball debuts at #1, ahead of returning favorites Darkwatch at #2 and Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction at #3. The success of a baseball title this late in the real-life season could mean that non-league games in other sports, such as Midway's upcoming Blitz: The League could have a better chance than people anticipated. On the Xbox, Darkwatch springs back up to #1, followed by Incredible Hulk at #2 and Madden NFL 2006, in its best performance on any chart this week, at #3 -- is Madden more a buyer's than a renter's game? Incredible Hulk and Darkwatch switch places for the PS2 chart, with old reliable God of War still at #3. Naturally, Mario Superstar Baseball is also the #1 game on the GameCube charts, but #2 is another surprise in the volatile world of Nintendo software: last week's top 3 are mostly gone in favor of newcomer WWE Day of Reckoning 2 at #2 and Incredible Hulk at #3. The Dragon Ball GT: Transformation juggernaut continues unabated at #1 on the Game Boy Advance charts, with Pokémon Emerald once again at #2. This week, Zelda: The Minish Cap leads Fire Emblem in their eternal pas de deux in the #3 slot. On the DS, Advance Wars: Dual Strike has again risen above the fray (possibly using its satellite recon tools) to beat out Nintendogs: Lab and Friends and Nintendogs: Dachshund and Friends for the #1 position. Finally, the souped-up ports in Namco Museum Battle Collection have caught gamers' attentions enough to put it at #1 on the PSP charts for the week, as Death Jr. bides its time at #2 and Coded Arms settles down at #3.
