Today's round-up includes information on Bungie's apparent choice for a Halo screenplay writer, as well as multiple new announcements showcasing Capcom's 2005 game line-up. - Variety Magazine is reporting that Alex Garland, writer of The Beach and 28 Days Later, has been assigned the task of producing a screenplay that combines the stories of both Halo games into one movie. Microsoft's comment when asked to discuss the news was ambiguous: though they said: "We have not made any official movie announcements," they also did not deny that Garland had been hired. Even assuming the rumors are true, nothing else about a possible Halo film is yet known, including a director or cast. - Capcom showed off its slate for 2005 at a recent event in Las Vegas, displaying new builds of previously known games and unveiling brand-new titles. Without Warning, a military action game from the ex-Core Design staffers at Circle Studio, and Beat Down: Fists of Vengeance, a GTA-styled brawler from Japanese developer Cavia, both made their public debut, while Gyakuten Saiban (a courtroom drama game) for Nintendo DS and a Mega Man X Collection were pleasant surprises. Apart from those four, the games on display were Devil May Cry 3, Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower, Haunting Ground, Mega Man Battle Network 5, Capcom Classics Collection, and Resident Evil Outbreak File 2.
