Motorola, Inc. has announced that it will be hosting 2006//CODE:MOTO, a two-day coding challenge held at this week’s Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Jose. According to the company, 2006//CODE:MOTO invites independent developers with a competitive spirit to try their hand at creating the next big thing in mobile gaming by producing original titles for Motorola devices such as the RAZR, PEBL and SLVR. Winners will receive the chance to make their game concept a reality through business and promotional opportunities (via the judging panel and Motorola’s MOTOCODER website). In addition, winners will be awarded Motorola devices including PEBL, RAZR, and SLVR. The challenge is open to any independent developer attending GDC at the MOTOLOUNGE, in the Fairmont San Jose Hotel (Valley Room). Judges for the competition include leading gaming, entertainment and telecom representatives including Jim Eisenstein of Hasbro, Minard Hamilton of EA Mobile/JAMDAT, Andrew Stein of MediaNET Gaming and Cingular, and Jason Rubinstein, Motorola. Winners will be announced on March 22, 2006 at the Game Developers Choice Awards, and more information is available at the official MOTOCODER website.
