3D graphics solution provider Graphic Remedy announced the release of gDEBugger iPhone, a toolkit that allows developers to track and improve rendering performance in iPhone applications. The program is an adaptation of Graphic Remedy's gDEBugger product line, which provides developers with real-time OpenGL and OpenGL ES debuggers, profilers, and graphics memory analyzers. gDEBugger is available for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X platforms. The iPhone version of gDEBugger tracks a developed application's performance within the OpenGL ES API. From there, developers will be able to identify bugs and optimize performance. gDEBugger iPhone's release arrives after Apple's recent release of the iPhone 3G S hardware upgrade, which adds support for the OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics API. Applications developed using OpenGL ES 2.0 have the potential for richer visuals and boosted performance, but are only compatible with 3G S devices. Previous iPhone and iPod Touch hardware uses the OpenGL ES 1.1 standard. gDEBugger supports both OpenGL ES 1.1 and 2.0.
