The Guildhall at Southern Methodist University (SMU) has announced it will offer undergraduate entry students the opportunity to enroll in a special five-year program to obtain a bachelor’s of fine arts degree and a master’s in interactive technology in digital game development. The Guildhall is a specialized digital game development graduate program affiliated with SMU. Students who enroll in the program will start out in university’s Division of Art at Meadows School on the SMU main campus, then move to the Plano, Texas campus where The Guildhall is located. “Combining our world class undergraduate program in fine art at Meadows with our professional development was a natural,” said Dr. Peter Raad, founder and executive director at The Guildhall, in the official announcement. “Since we opened our doors in 2003, high school seniors from across the country have been inquiring as to how they can get into our program. If a high school senior’s goal is to someday work as an artist in the video game industry, SMU is the right place for them.” The Guildhall boasts a 95 percent placement rate for graduates of its program.
