Opinion: How will Project 2025 impact game developers?
The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
All the staff at Gamasutra would like to wish our readership a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the leading site to discuss both the art and business of games - a message from the EIC and information on the holiday update schedule inside.
All the staff at Gamasutra would like to wish our readership a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the leading site to discuss both the art and business of games, and thank you heartily for continuing to read us. Since we understand that game news doesn't actually stop entirely for the holiday season, Gamasutra will be running on a reduced schedule, with no major updates on Christmas Day or New Year's Day, but bringing you our customary breaking news and in-depth features through next week. But as Editor-In-Chief of Gamasutra, I'd like to thank the staff here - from Features Editor Frank Cifaldi through News Editor Brandon Boyer and our other contributors such as Jason Dobson, Alistair Wallis, Danny Cowan, Jim Rossignol, Shang Koo, Ernest Adams, Tom Kim, Jon Jordan, Beth Dillon, Mathew Kumar, and a host of others for helping to make this Gamasutra's most successful year ever. Also, many thanks to exec. producer Peter Leahy, web types Rajan Agaskar and Mira Han, and Game Developer magazine's Brandon Sheffield and Jill Duffy for continuing to provide amazing support - and also, a tip of the hat to the plethora of CMP Game Group and external folks who I don't have time to thank here. But of course, the main people we have to thank are you guys, our readers - both for your amazing feedback to our user-contributed questions and awards, and for continuing to read the site and submit some of the signature game industry features that Gamasutra is known for. We're going to do our best to uphold impartial quality, in a Web world where obsequious charts and headline-skewing statements are becoming increasingly the norm, and we hope you'll come along for the ride. Going into 2007, we'll continue to run Gamasutra (our main site, which I'm guess you're reading as we speak), as well as Game Career Guide (for the best in game education features and news), Serious Games Source (for in-depth information on games for education, military, health and social issues), and GameSetWatch (our own esoteric editor blog). And we'll be stepping up our support of sister publication Game Developer magazine as it grows its absolutely unique editorial, and have more than one new site and product launch planned for early 2007, to further expand the ways we canonically cover the game market. We'll see you there!
