According to Sony, PlayStation 3 will be the "first and only console" this year to support the upcoming Hulu Plus internet television service, and this week some PlayStation Plus members have been offered slots in Hulu Plus' paid preview phase. Hulu Plus, officially announced last month, is a $9.99 monthly subscription that hosts films and full seasons of many television programs, some in high definition. Sony soon announced PlayStation 3's compatibility with the service, clarifying that Hulu Plus users would only need to be subscribers to the $50-per-year PlayStation Plus program during Hulu Plus' preview. While all PlayStation Plus subscribers are currently able to download the Hulu Plus application, they cannot actually use it to watch content until they request access and are selected to receive an invitation. "We are delighted to offer the Hulu Plus preview starting today on PlayStation 3 and that PlayStation 3 will be the only console to offer Hulu Plus in 2010," said Sony Computer Entertaniment America president Jack Tretton, who called his company's console "the industry's best entertainment device for all of your content experiences from games, TV shows and movies to live sports, original content and 3D."
