Opinion: How will Project 2025 impact game developers?
The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
The International Game Developers Association (IGDA) has launched the 2nd annual Student Scholarship Program, awarding college students full access to the 2002 Game Developers Conference (GDC).
The scholarship program will grant show passes to 25 recipients, thereby opening the doors to coveted conference seminars and panel discussions, show floor exhibits and the chance to learn of potential job opportunities. The 2002 Game Developers Conference is scheduled for March 21 - 23, in San Jose, Calif. Produced by the Gama Network, the GDC is the world's largest conference and exposition exclusively devoted to video game development and related industries. Scholarship applications will be judged by industry stalwarts and IGDA Education Committee members, including Graeme Devine, id Software; John Feil, LucasArts Entertainment; Matt Toschlog, Outrage Entertainment; Robert Huebner, Nihilistic Software; and Ray Muzyka, BioWare Corp. Recipients will be announced in late January 2002. Students can now apply online for an IGDA scholarship at www.igda.org/scholarships.htm. The deadline to enter is Monday, Jan. 7, 2002. To enter, students must answer essay-style questions. Contestants must first be full-time college students (or equivalent) and IGDA student members for consideration.
