In a joint statement officials from games websites GameSpy and IGN have announced that a corporate merger of the two companies should be complete by the middle of next year. It is claimed that the resultant company will generate over 673 million page views per month, with a combined 22 million unique visitors per month. Both brands will be retained, since GameSpy caters more for PC users and IGN more for console owners. IGN CEO Mark Jung will become CEO of the new company, with GameSpy founder and chairman Mark Surfas becoming chief strategy officer.
