Ireland-based game development tool-related company Instinct Technology announced the appointment of former Microsoft and THQ executive Mike Gamble to the position of business development director. Gamble will be responsible for bringing the company's flagship product, the Instinct Studio game development suite, from its current Beta status to full commercial release. He will also be charged with building the company's business relationships with associated technology companies, developers and publishers. Instinct Studio is a suite of software tools focused on video game development. Instinct Studio's toolset includes a number of features and techniques, including real-time, per-pixel lighting, normal mapping, specular highlighting and volumetric stencil-buffer shadowing. The suite also provides a variety of WYSIWYG tools, including project-based resource management, fully-integrated run-time editable components, hot loading and real-time previewing. “Every so often, a company emerges with just the right product at just the right time and I'm convinced that this is one of those occasions,” commented Mike Gamble. “With development budgets under ever-increasing pressure, there has never been a greater need for high-quality tools at a competitive price, which is exactly what Instinct Studio delivers.”
