Following the early analyst reports on the NPD's January 2006 overall results, the NPD Group has officially released the top 10 selling games in the U.S. for the month of January, specifically detailing relative sales positions, and showing the chart led by the Xbox 360 title Call of Duty 2. Also representing Microsoft's new console on the chart was Tecmo's Dead or Alive 4 at #8. Though current-generation game sales are slowing, the PlayStation 2 still dominated the charts. Madden NFL 06, MVP 06 NCAA Baseball, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Star Wars Battlefront II, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas: Special Edition all saw their PS2 incarnations on the top-10-selling list. The two newer handhelds also did well for themselves: Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories for PSP took #4, and Mario Kart DS and Animal Crossing: Wild World came in right behind it at #5 and #6, respectively.
