Another busy week of sales in Japan has seen four titles sell over 100,000 units – including Tales of Vesperia on the Xbox 360. The number one seller was still Phantasy Star Portable on the PSP, however, which continues to mirror the success of Monster Hunter with 148,000 unit sales this week. The highest new entry at number two is a DS remake of the original Fire Emblem strategy role-playing game on the NES and later SNES. The game is actually one of two remakes of a remake in the top ten this week, with Dragon Quest V still selling well at number five. With what will be known in the West as Rhythm Heaven still selling well at number three on DS, the second highest new entry was Namco Bandai’s Tales of Vesperia at number four with 108,000 units sold. The game beat the Xbox 360 first week record of fellow role-player Blue Dragon, which sold 80,348 units in December 2006. New at number six is a new DS version of Sega’s card based strategy game coin-op Sangokushi Taisen, which uses the same ancient Chinese setting as Koei’s Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Dynasty Warriors games. The final new entry in the top ten, at number seven, is also a remake – although of an original PSone game. Developer Flight-Plan’s long-running role-playing series sold 30,000 units in its new DS incarnation.
