A lack of other new releases has meant that even the continued strong performance of Bandai's Dragon Ball Z Sparking! for PlayStation 2 has been unable to prevent a drop in sales from last week in the Japanese game charts, to around 68 percent of the weekly average. Dragon Ball Z Sparking! (to be known as Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi in the West) sold an impressive 89,077 units in its second week, to add to its first week total of 325,589. The highest new entry was Square Enix’s action role-player Code Age Commanders with 37,199 units sold, followed by the latest Yu-Gi-Oh! Game Boy Advance title at 34,849 units sold. Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance version of DS puzzler Polarium only managed 14,359 sales, however, to enter at number eight. In terms of hardware sales, recent spikes for the PSP and Game Boy Micro now seem to be receding, with the Nintendo DS remaining dominant, sporting 44,262 unit sales and a 34.30 percent market share. Combined Game Boy Advance sales accounted for a 23.37 market share (20,026 Game Boy Micro, 9,707 Game Boy Advance SP and 431 original Game Boy Advance), with the PSP coming third with a 22.60 percent market share and 29,162 sales. The PlayStation 2 was once again pushed into fourth place, with a 18.33 percent share and 23,659 sales. The GameCube accounted for just 1.29 percent of the market and the Xbox 0.10 percent.
