This week's Japanese game software charts have shown relatively little change, with total sales of 729,874 units, approximately 94.30% of the weekly average, but just eleven new releass in the top 100, and sales well-distributed. Bandai's Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop!, an extension of the virtual pet franchise, and developed for the DS by NaNaOnSha's Masaya Matsuura, hopped up from third spot into first place, with 55,154 copies sold this week. Koei's Dynasty Warriors for PS2 and Nintendo's Super Mario Bros re-issue for Game Boy Advance continue to hang around the higher reaches of the chart, and new entries came from Konami's PS2 RPG Rhapsodia in 4th place (42,000 units sold) and Bandai's PSP strategy title Gundam Battle Tactics in 6th place (37,000 units sold). In the hardware market in Japan this week, however, the Game Boy Micro took a major dive after the first-week sales surge, dropping from about 170,000 units to a still-impressive 46,500 units. Overall, the DS led the way with 68,123 hardware units sold in the week, followed by PSP with 50,629, Game Boy Micro with 46,529, PlayStation 2 with 25,518, Game Boy Advance SP with 12,483, GameCube with 2,267, Game Boy Advance with 448, and Xbox with just 98 consoles sold.
