The University of Advancing Technology, an Arizona-based school focused on technology-related degrees, has announced the establishment of the Karrlin Field Memorial Scholarship. The award is geared toward women pursuing degrees in computer game development and design at the university, and is worth $1,000 towards tuition and other expenses. The scholarship was established in honor of Karrlin Field, a potential UAT student claimed by cystic fibrosis in 2004 at 17 years of age. Field was interested in writing and designing video games, and was on track to attend UAT with a focus on software engineering and multimedia game design at the time of her death. The Karrlin Field Memorial Scholarship is sponsored by the Karrlin Field Memorial Fund and administered by the non-profit Chester County Community Foundation. The Fund is also considering the creation of other scholarships in memoriam for Field. More information about the scholarship and the Karrlin Field Memorial Fund can be found at the official memorial website, and female UAT students wishing to apply for the scholarship can do so at the university's site.
