Software sales in Japan have seen another buoyant week, that totals 170% of the weekly average. Top title Mobile Suit Gundam Z: AEUG vs. Titans sold a highly impressive 315,000 units, with Gran Turismo 4 Prologue clocking in at an equally laudable (considering it’s not much more than a playable demo) 216,000 units. Elsewhere in the charts Electronic Arts scored a surprisingly big hit with Medal of Honor: Rising Sun, especially considering the sometimes jingoistic tone of the game. Nintendo employees will also be gratified to see four exclusive GameCube titles in the top ten – a record in recent months. In hardware sales the PlayStation 2 extended its lead with a colossal 54.52% market share. Most of this gain was taken from the Game Boy Advance, which falls to one of its lowest percentages all year at 23.92%. The GameCube is up at 19.67%, while the Xbox seems to be spiraling down towards it’s previous market share value, before its recent price cut, this week clocking in at just 1.52%.
