Maya maker Alias announced at the Apple World Wide Developers Conference today that its chief 3D graphics software, Maya 6, will be available in the Maya Unlimited configuration to Mac OS X users. Maya Complete, an earlier version of the tool, has been Mac-ready since 2001. Alias noted that 29% of the product’s sales in North America was for Mac users, and decided that the Unlimited version was necessary for Mac OS X. Maya Unlimited offers special effects not included in Maya Complete: Maya Hair, Maya Cloth, Maya Fluid Effects, Maya Fur, and Maya Live. Maya Unlimited costs $6,999 regardless of platform, while Maya Complete costs $1,999.
