Publisher Majesco and Sandlot Games have announced Cake Mania 2, developed by Digital Embryo and slated for release on Nintendo DS in the second quarter of 2008. Majesco says the original Cake Mania, which debuted on PC, has been downloaded more than 50 million times, and Cake Mania for DS has sold more than 280,000 units. The company adds it expects to reveal details on a Wii version of Cake Mania in the near future. In Cake Mania 2, players use the stylus to guide bakery entrepreneur Jill through over 200 levels, aiming to please a variant customer base -- including aliens, federal agents and rock stars -- with her frosted confections. 50 kitchen upgrades are also available for players to purchase with their bakery earnings, and Majesco also promises multiple endings. Majecso executive VP of operations Gui Karyo commented, "Cake Mania’s fast-paced, addictive gameplay has created a tremendous following of franchise fans. With a wide range of feature enhancements, Cake Mania 2 for the DS offers tremendous depth while retaining the same core gameplay mechanic that made the original a handheld success."
