The 2006 Medi@terra International Art and Technology Festival, a conference to discuss the art and influence of games upon real life to be held in Athens, Greece from September 27 – October 1, 2006, has updated its official website with a call for papers and games, as well as a few other additions. Main subjects for possible talks at the conference include 'The borders between games and reality', 'The game as the 21st Century's new art', 'Game Technologies', and 'The Virtual Economies of Games', and Medi@terra 06 has also issued a call for game projects, to offer the opportunity to artists, independent creators, programmers and theorists from the field to show their work and collaborate together. Applicants must submit abstracts by March 10, 2006, and will be notified of acceptance by May 8th. Full papers must be 3500-5000 words, and the final due date of the finished paper is June 12th. Game projects are also welcome; though only completed works are welcome, the deadline for submitting them is April 28th. Those selected will be notified on June 9th. Further specific details on the Medi@terra Festival, which has not yet has its programming formalized yet, has been posted to the site. More information, including registration information, will be available in the coming months.
