Microsoft has announced that starting today it will release episodes of Comedy Central's politically charged news programs The Daily Show With Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report over the Xbox Live marketplace. One episode of each program is available now for 160 Microsoft Points ($2.00) each, and Microsoft adds that it plans to release new shows within 24 hours of each original airing. These latest additions build upon the Marketplace's already healthy amount of downloadable video content, including movies such as Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny and fellow Comedy Central television program South Park. At 160 Points, the pricing is comparable to downloading either program via iTunes, which offers regular current episodes of both series at $1.99 a piece, though iTunes does offer a 'multi-pass' option of all 16 monthly episodes for $9.99, an incentive program Xbox Live has yet to implement. Commented Microsoft's Larry 'Major Nelson' Hryb via his weblog, "[the programs] are being posted just hours after they air...so props to the VMP team for the staying up REAL late to make this happen. This means that if you miss the airing from the previous night or forgot to set the DVR you can just head over to the VMP and grab the complete shows."
