Eidos Interactive has announced that the mobile version of its latest in the Tomb Raider franchise, Tomb Raider Legend, will be hitting handsets next month, exclusively through European carrier Orange until the beginning of 2007. The release marks the impressive (but not unprecedented) ninth platform for the title. It is also the latest in a number of Tomb Raider mobile games, which have included three traditional adventures as well as a puzzle spin-off Tomb Raider: Puzzle Paradox. The 3D title promises to allow gamers to "jump, sidestep, roll, shoot, climb, and use the grappling hook" in the same manner as the console iterations. "The mobile phone is the biggest selling games platform in the UK, with people regularly enjoying action and strategy games for entertainment. Now that handsets offer such improved performance, we are able to provide a more immersive gaming experience for the mobile generation," said Eidos New Media and IT Director Simon Protheroe.
