The National Art and Design Centre, in Montreal, Ottawa has announced that it will expand its curriculum in Design and Digital Art for Video Games to include courses in English, starting in January 2006. The move comes at a precipitous time as the Montreal game industry expands, with Ubisoft constructing a large campus in the area. The 48-week course will also include a paid internship lasting 12 to 16 weeks at a development studio of the student's choice, pending acceptance. To compensate for the more rigorous course of study, the school will raise the standards for acceptance to the program "More than ever, Montreal is considered a key location in the gaming industry, with world leaders such as Electronic Arts and Ubisoft hiring local talent to produce best-selling titles at their studios here," said Suzanne Guèvremont, General Manager, NAD Centre. "At the NAD Centre, we are very proud to contribute to the success of the industry, and to offer our students quality training that really prepares them for the reality of this market."
