The classic MechWarrior franchise has seen a bit of a resurgence of late, and on Tuesday developers Roadhouse Interactive and A.C.R.O.N.Y.M. announced a new game in the series titled MechWarrior Tactics. This turn-based PC strategy title is now the second MechWarrior game set to launch this year. The game will also adopt a free to play business model, much like the upcoming MechWarrior Online from Piranha Games. Outside of these two upcoming releases, it's been quite some time since a new MechWarrior title has seen the light of day. Excluding the MechCommander and MechAssault titles, the last official MechWarrior release was MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries in 2002. MechWarrior Tactics will be published by the newly formed Infinite Game Publishing, and is scheduled to launch in North America during 2012. More information can be found at the game's official website.
