The official Nintendo of Japan website has revealed the three official launch colors for the recently unveiled Nintendo DS Lite console as ‘Crystal White’, ‘Ice Blue’ and ‘Enamel Navy’. The Crystal White version was the first to be unveiled last month, likely because it bears the closest resemblance to the most commonly pictured Revolution console mock-up. The new iteration of the hardware is approximately 20 percent smaller and lighter than the original and measures 133.0 x 73.9 x 21.5 mm, as opposed to the original’s size of 148.7 x 84.7 x 28.9 mm, and weighs 57g less than the original at 218g. As far as is known the only major change to the functionality of the console is the screen brightness. It is described as having four adjustable levels of brightness, using the new brighter screens from the recently upgraded Game Boy Advance SP. The DS Lite is scheduled to retail at around ¥16,800 ($145) in Japan, slightly more than the current version at ¥15,000 ($129) and is scheduled to go on sale on March 2nd. No price point has yet been announced for North America or Europe, although a release is not expected till Easter – possibly later, if the console continues to suffer stock problems in Japan.
