Nintendo of America today announced that it is dropping the suggested retail price for the Gamecube to just $99.99 for the U.S. market. In a telephone briefing, Nintendo characterized this as an aggressive move, one which signals that this generation of consoles is about to enter the mass market—the casual gamer. The annoucement follows on the heels of rumors of a price cut for the European market.
