The Nintendo DS has sold a combined total of 26 million units of hardware in Japan, according to new data released by Famitsu magazine publisher and research firm Enterbrain. As translated by consumer weblog Kotaku, exact sales currently stand at 26,083,985 million, of which 6,449,206 are the original Nintendo DS, 17,610,348 the DS Lite and 2,024,431 million the new DSi. The DSi went on sale on November 1st in Japan and sold 1.28 million units by the end of the year. The data broadly agrees with the weekly figures released by rival chart compiler Media Create, which last week had total Nintendo DS sales at 25,981,537. Earlier in the month, Nintendo officially announced that total global sales for the Nintendo DS family had passed 100 million units. It also revealed that a total of 83 DS software titles had sold over 1 million units, with seven selling over 10 million globally. The new DSi hardware will release in North America on April 5th and in Europe on April 3rd.
