Nintendo Partners With Celebrities For AIDS Benefit

Nintendo has announced that it helped participate in a fundraiser last Sunday, June 11 in Los Angeles for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. The event, which was designed to raise more than $1 million pediatric AIDS research, saw attendance from dozens of celebrities, philanthropists and children, each of whom got their first hands-on experience with the newly-launched Nintendo DS Lite. Celebrities such as Christian Slater, Ellen Pompeo and Rachel Bilson played New Super Mario Bros. with kids in the Nintendo DS Lite Lounge on the same day that the Nintendo DS Lite went on sale in the United States. "Nintendo has a long tradition of making the lives of kids brighter, and our participation in this event underscores our commitment to the community," said George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. Each hour, a different celebrity worked at the Nintendo DS Lite Lounge, while others worked in other areas of the "A Time for Heroes Celebrity Carnival."
