NVIDIA today announced its GoForce 2150 media processor, a graphics chip designed for use in camera-equipped cellphones. The chip is capable of supporting a 1.3 megapixel camera, two LCD screens, motion JPEG capture, and MPEG-4 video playback, as well as accelerated 2D graphics for mobile gaming. The chip is the first product from NVIDIA’s acquisition of MediaQ. Samples are available to OEMs immediately, while volume production is expected to begin in Q4 2003.
