Nvidia today released beta versions of its Nforce drivers for Microsoft's beta 64-bit version of Windows XP. These drivers enable enhanced performance of the Nforce features, including Gigabit Ethernet, advanced RAID storage configurations and hardware-optimised security features that are integrated into the NVIDIA nForce3 MCPs used on AMD Athlon 64, AMD Athlon 64 FX, and AMD Opteron-based systems. Officially called "Windows XP 64-Bit Edition for 64-Bit Extended Systems", this is a preview version of Windows XP 64-Bit Edition specifically for 64-bit AMD computers--and is completely separate from the 64-bit version of Windows XP that is now shipping on HP's 64-bit Itanium computers. For those interested in testing these beta Nforce 64-bit drivers, the AMD 64-bit beta version of Windows XP is currently available to MSDN subscribers. It is expected to ship commercially on select OEM systems beginning in the second half of 2004. The Forceware 4.34a Beta 64-bit driver is currently available for download from Nvidia's web site.
