iOS developer Aurora Feint has launched OpenFeint, its mobile social gaming network, for Android devices, promising more than 20 supported titles (e.g. Fruit Ninja) that will release on the platform in the next month. With OpenFeint's API, Android developers can now implement community features like leaderboards, achievements, friends lists, synchronous play, live chat, and more. The network is cross-platform, too, so users with Android handsets will be able to interact with iPhone owners, as well as gamers on other smartphone platforms OpenFeint may support in the future. Since its introduction more than 18 months ago for iPhone/iPod Touch and subsequently the iPad, over 3,000 games have integrated OpenFeint support, reaching more than 37 million players. The mobile social network has faced increased competition recently, though, after last week's release of Apple's Game Center application with similar features. More than 20 games with OpenFeint support will roll out in the coming weeks, with several already available to purchase. The full list of games follows:

  • Face Fighter Gold by Appy Entertainment

  • Touch Racing Nitro by Bravo Game Studies

  • Symbolism by ChewSoft

  • Cestos 2: Party Time by ChickenBrick Studios

  • The Moron Test by DistinctDev

  • Super KO Boxing 2 by Glu Games Inc.

  • Mega Jump by Get Set Games

  • Fruit Ninja by Halfbrick Studios

  • Bomberman Dojo by Hudson

Aurora Feint is also bringing its standalone Feint Spotlight App to Android in order to help gamers discover standout titles. "Android users deserve great games but haven’t had access to enough of them. That changes today,” said Aurora Feint CEO Jason Citron, according to a report from Android Police. Citron continued, "Hundreds of thousands of people activate Android phones every day, and there is a clear need for high quality games in the marketplace. The major wireless carriers are partnering with us to select the best games from iOS – like Fruit Ninja – to bring to Android."
