Developer Plainvue Software has launched the first two titles in a planned series of video games for the iPhone and iPod Touch designed to teach children complex math concepts. The solitaire-styled card game Fortune's Prime helps students identify prime numbers. Chainshooter is a vertically scrolling shooter in which players must destroy numbered enemies in order to solve math problems. Both titles are part of Plainvue's Order of the Abacus series, and are now available for purchase from Apple's iTunes App Store. A third title, Fraction's Kitchen, will be available later this year. Plainvue developed the games in cooperation with local educators and game developers in Orlando, Florida. Company founder Daniel Roy notes that additional science-focused titles are planned for future release. "Our games supplement, amplify and encourage traditional classroom learning skills and bridge the home-to-classroom divide, reinforcing key math and science concepts that are critical for success in high school and beyond," said Roy. "As students master the games, they master the fundamental math concepts they will need to compete in the future."
