Playlogic Takes Reverse Merger, Opens U.S. Offices

Through a slightly arcane process known as a "reverse merger," U.S. holding company Donar Enterprises has acquired Dutch-headquartered PC and console game publisher and developer Playlogic International, whose name it intends to adopt for the new merged entity. Playlogic Entertainment, the newly formed company, will open a U.S. headquarters in New York. Playlogic Entertainment will publish PlayStation 2, Xbox, PC, PSP, and other handheld and mobile titles in North America, as well as in Europe. The original Playlogic International is a Dutch video game publisher, whose output so far has consisted of four games: Alpha Black Zero for PC, Airborne Troops for PC and PlayStation 2, Cyclone Circus for PS2, and Xyanide, still upcoming for Game Boy Advance, N-Gage, PSP, and Xbox. Playlogic currently has 19 other projects in the works for various platforms, including a number of titles it will publish from external developers, as well as titles currently in construction at its Playlogic Game Factory development house, based in Breda, Holland. "We believe this transaction will offer Playlogic important access to the US capital market," said Willem M. Smit, the former CEO of Playlogic who will become President and CEO of the new Playlogic Entertainment, "and will enable us to capitalize on what we perceive to be tremendous growth opportunities in the games and digital entertainment market internationally."
